Taiwan Jobless Rate Rises As Expected In April

Taiwan's unemployment rate increased marginally in April, in line with expectations, the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics, or DGBAS, reported Tuesday.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate edged up to 3.69 percent in April from 3.67 percent in March.

In the corresponding month last year, the unemployment rate was 3.78 percent.

The number of unemployed rose to 437,000 in March from 434,000 in the preceding month.

The labor force participation rate went up 0.02 percentage points to 58.95 percent in April.

On an unadjusted basis, the jobless rate dropped to 3.64 percent in April from 3.66 percent a month ago.
