The Miss USA 2018 final immediately cut the contestant field down to 15 based on how everyone performed in the preliminary rounds in the run up to the broadcast.
Subsequent evening gown, swimsuit and interview rounds narrowed the field down to three contestants: Nebraska’s Summers, Caelynn Miller-Keyes of North Carolina and Carolina Urrea of Nevada.
The contestants were asked what they would put down on a sign that they would take to a march.
Summers wrote ‘speak your voice’, encouraging people to ‘listen to each other,’ saying that was something people across America should do.
Summers says she wants to promote a healthy relationship with food. According to Miss Universe, Summers is very keen on fitness: ‘When not busy in scrubs, she can often be found in workout gear teaching pilates or taking a dance party cycling class.’
