EPL: Pogba’s agent, Raiola attacks Scholes for criticizing France star

Mino Raiola, agent to Manchester United’s midfielder, Paul Pogba, has castigated Paul Scholes over his comments about his client.

Scholes had criticised Pogba after Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to Brighton for failing to show leadership qualities during the game.

This followed the decision by manager Jose Mourinho to hand the France star the captain’s armband.

Pogba has scored twice in two games from the penalty spot this term and he’s been heavily linked with an exit from Old Trafford due to his strained relationship with Mourinho.

Scholes had said, “There’s a lack of leaders in the team. We thought Paul Pogba might be the ideal candidate to be that leader but he wasn’t there today.

“He had another really poor game. He’s so inconsistent.

“Pogba’s playing the ball out of play, he’s overhitting passes, he’s hitting passes short, he’s getting caught in possession.”

But Raiola, who made £15m from Pogba’s move to Old Trafford, said Scholes wouldn’t recognise a leader.

He wrote on Twitter, “Some people need to talk for fear of being forgotten.

“Paul Scholes wouldn’t recognize a leader if he was in front of Sir Winston Churchill.

“Paul Scholes should become sports director and advise Woodward to sell Pogba. It would be sleepless nights to find Pogba a new club.”
