Former Auburn athletics administrator hired as interim deputy AD at Fresno State

A former Auburn athletics senior administrator, who was among six high-ranking officials fired in June, has landed a new job in college sports.

Meredith Jenkins, who served nearly 24 years at Auburn and was most recently a executive associate athletic director and senior women's administrator, was hired as the interim deputy athletic director at Fresno State.

Jenkins, who was involved in the Auburn softball scandal last year and instructed players to delete text messages obtained from a teammate's phone that proved an inappropriate relationships between a player and then-assistant coach Corey Myers, will oversee and manage the internal units of Fresno State athletics and coordinate university governance within the department.

"We're fortunate enough to have a very quality individual joining our athletics department and to help develop our students," Fresno State AD Terry Tumey told the Fresno Bee. "I feel Meredith will be a great contributor to the experience that our students will have here at Fresno State. I'll also say for me, with the recommendations that she has received from Auburn and the understanding of her merits and her contributions to the university, we feel very confident and very happy that she is joining us."

According to the Fresno Bee, an interim appointment can last up to one year and Fresno State can then initiate a formal hiring process to make the hire permanent.
