Armenian News - NEWS.am presents a daily digest of Armenia-related top news as of 29.06.2020:

·       Armenia recorded 482 COVID-19 new cases on Monday.

The death toll has reached 433 — an increase by 7 in the past day.

The total number of tests conducted so far is 110,571. In the meantime, 11,254 people are currently being treated.

According to the latest data, 13,297 people — with 181 in the last day—have recovered thus far.

·       Armenia is now ranked 10th in the world in the number of COVID-19 cases per one million inhabitants.

There are already 25,127 COVID-19 cases in Armenia - 8,480 cases per million.

As before, Qatar, San Marino, and the Vatican are the top three countries in the world in this regard.

·       French-Armenian politician and environmentalist Jeanne Barseghian has been elected mayor of Strasbourg, France.

She received 42.5% of the votes in the election.

She heads the respective list of the Ecology: Greens party, which achieved good results in the May 2019 municipal elections.

Jeanne Barseghian is 39 years old, and her main agenda is the fight against climate change and inequality.

She is the great-granddaughter of military and political figure Sarkis Barseghian and Berjouhi Bardizbanian-Barseghian, one of the female MPs of the First Republic of Armenia.

·       Armenian ex-MP Abraham Manukyan was arrested Saturday, his lawyer Hrant Ananyan told Armenian News - NEWS.am.

Manukyan is accused of assisting in vote buying.

Opposition Prosperous Armenia Party leader, head of its parliamentary faction, and business tycoon Gagik Tsarukyan is also an accused in the same criminal case, but the court of the first instance had denied the motion to arrest him as a pretrial measure.
