Netflix's binge-worthy new romcom series lands release date - and it has an unreal cast
Hype has been building steadily around the 10-episode series
A highly-anticipated Netflix series which is tipped to be the platform's next major hit has finally received a release date, and fans won't have to wait much longer.
Produced by the team behind Love Actually and Girls creator Lena Dunham, Too Much has been generating significant buzz. British GQ has even speculated that it could surpass Nobody Wants This as Netflix's "greatest romcom" to date.
As of today (May 12), viewers have been treated to a first glimpse of the 10-episode series, along with the long-awaited release date.
Too Much tells the story of Jessica (played by Hacks star Megan Stalter), a work-obsessed New Yorker who relocates to London after a devastating break-up. It's there that she meets Felix (The White Lotus' Will Sharpe), who disrupts her plans for a solitary life. As their connection grows, the budding romance faces numerous challenges, reports Surrey Live.
According to the official synopsis: "Jessica (Megan Stalter) is a New York workaholic in her mid-thirties, reeling from a broken relationship that she thought would last forever and slowly isolating everyone she knows. When every block in New York tells a story of her own bad behaviour, the only solution is to take a job in London, where she plans to live a life of solitude like a Bronte sister.
"But when she meets Felix (Will Sharpe) – a walking series of red flags – she finds that their unusual connection is impossible to ignore, even when it creates more problems than it solves. Now they have to ask themselves: do Americans and Brits actually speak the same language? From the creator of Girls and the producers of Love Actually. Too Much is and ex-pat rom-com for the disillusioned who wonder if true love is still possible, but sincerely hope that it is."
The show boasts a star-studded cast including model and Gone Girl actress Emily Ratajkowski, Top Boy's Adwoa Aboah, and Saltburn's Richard E. Grant. Other notable names include Stephen Fry (The Dropout), Daisy Bevan (The Alienist), and comedian Leo Reich.
Dunham takes on the role of executive producer alongside her husband Luis Felber and Love Actually producers Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. Also joining as executive producers are Michael P. Cohen, Surian Fletcher-Jones, and Girls writer and executive producer Bruce Eric Kaplan.
The wait for the show's release won't be much longer, with the streaming platform set to launch it on July 10.
"This is a show that is very close to my heart - created with my husband Luis, cast with my favourite actors - the geniuses that are Meg and Will, along with a bevy of friends - and partnering again with Working Title, who are behind the romantic comedies that formed me," Dunham previously shared with Netflix.
She went on to say: "Netflix has been so deeply supportive of the vision, which is to create a romantic comedy that makes us root for love, brings joy but also has the jagged edges of life."
Too Much is available to stream on Netflix from July 10
