MANILA -- Thousands of jobs are available to Filipinos in the Czech Republic, according to officials of the country during the opening of the Philippines - Czech Republic Friendship Week at the Department of Migrant Workers office in Mandaluyong.

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the two nations have agreed to improve labor opportunities for Filipinos even making sure that the benefits of Filipino workers will be the same with the benefits of Czech workers. These include healthcare and salary.

“Our workers are assured of the decent working wages that are available to Czech workers in the Czech Republic,” Cacdac said.

H.E. Karel Hejc, Ambassador of Czech Republic to the Philippines, said basic salary would be between €2,000 and €3,000 and up depending on the skills. That’s over P125,000 per month. But he said aside from wages, good benefits await Filipinos.

“It’s not just salary. It’s all the benefits that come with it- the healthcare, the social safety net, transportation, nutrition, accommodation, everything is included,” Hejc said.

The job vacancies are in all sectors and industries --- from healthcare, manufacturing, transportation, information technology, among others.

The Czech envoy said they prefer Filipinos because of the Filipinos’ work ethics and just being friendly people.

“There are only two countries in the world that the Czech Republic has the program of skills employment and Philippines is the leading country,” he added.

The Czech Republic has increased the quota for Filipino workers from the previous 5,500 workers per year to 10,300 Filipino workers a year.

This translates to tens of thousands of jobs open to Filipinos in the Czech Republic in the years to come.
