Projects will catalyze US$238 million in investments, with US$80 million in finance from GCF

Delivering on the Paris Goals and 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, countries across the globe are mainstreaming and accelerating actions toward a low-carbon climate-resilient future. In Bangladesh, a new project will provide assistance to 25,000 women and girls to adopt resilient livelihoods, while ensuring reliable, safe drinking water for 130,000 people. A project in Georgia will scale-up early warning systems and climate information services to protect lives from fast-acting floods, while in Zambia a new GCF-financed project will support nearly 1 million farmers in building more climate resilient lives.

Projects focus on National Adaptation Plans and Lake Chad Basin conservancy and management

The GEF CEO recently endorsed a new regional project to improve natural resource management in the Lake Chad Basin. The lake provides for millions of people in Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Niger and Nigeria. Another project will work to build Chad's National Adaptation Plan.
