Uzbekistan is interested in establishing trade, economic and tourism relations with Iran, Uzbek Ambassador to Iran Bakhodir Abdullaev said at a meeting with governor of Iran’s Markazi Province Seyyed Ali Aghazadeh, IRNA reported.

He said that 117 production and industrial companies operate in Uzbekistan with the participation of Iranian investments, adding that businessmen from the Markazi Province of Iran made the majority of the investments.

Abdullaev said that the Markazi Province of Iran was one of the first provinces to establish economic and trade relations with Uzbekistan and that these relations need to be developed further.

A new page was opened in the past two years at the meetings between the trade delegations of the two countries to boost their cultural and economic cooperation, he noted.

The ambassador expressed hope that the number of tourists traveling from Iran to Uzbekistan will increase, adding that in the first half of this year, 6,000 Iranian tourists visited Uzbekistan.

He said that under the current conditions, the neighboring countries support Iran and this support will permanently remain in Iran’s memory and history.
