Statement from Senator John McKeon on the FY 2025 Budget

Trenton – Senator John McKeon issued the following statement in support of New Jersey’s FY 2025 Budget:

“The budget we passed today puts us on a path to guarantee New Jersey’s success both now and in the years to come and carefully considers sustainability and environmental protection in doing so.

“Adding the Corporate Transit Fee to fund NJ Transit is good for business, tourism, and environmental sustainability. It makes certain the state’s most profitable corporations are helping support the system that brings many of their employees to work every day, and ensures commuters are not the only ones helping to address NJ Transit’s budget deficit.

“We secured over $100 million for new parks and recreation area development, bringing new recreational fields, bike paths, and conservation areas to our towns and cities. Our diverse natural features are among our state’s greatest assets, and as the most densely populated state in the country, preservation is crucial.

“Funding to upgrade our grid infrastructure will further position New Jersey as a clean energy leader. Through modernization, we can get closer to our goal of combating climate change through electrification.

“I thank the Legislature, the Governor’s Office, and most importantly our dedicated citizens and advocacy groups for their input as we crafted this year’s budget. Together, we delivered on our promise to provide funding that will improve our infrastructure, our environment, and the lives of our residents.”

Senator John McKeon is the Vice-Chair of the State Government, Wagering, Tourism and Historic Preservation Committee. Senator McKeon also sits on the Senate Environment and Energy Committee and the Senate Health, Human Services, and Senior Citizens Committee. He represents Legislative District 27 (Essex/Passaic).
